oceans churn

It's been so long since my last entry, and this time I am showing you all images of my lovely time in Tokyo. That's the only way to describe it: lovely. In this entry, I want to include my adventure not only in images, but in words as well. This five day journey to Yokosuka and Tokyo was uplifting and inspiring. It surprised me because all of the stimuli from the city enticed me, rather than draining me. It opened my eyes to many lovely people, and many places I want to go back and shoot in.

On the morning I left, I waited for the nishitetsu train, my pulse racing, but my mind heavy with sleep. When I touched down in Narita, my mind became alert, as I looked around the plane window with wide eyes. After meeting Piper, my close friend, my sister, in the airport, we greeted and embraced. For a few seconds, she became my whole world. I watched the vibrant greens, and blinding sun from my window on the train to Yokosuka. We didn't arrive until the sun fell asleep, the sky was dark. I followed Piper to her apartment, gazing at the sea to my left, and the park and fountain gleaming with light even in the dark.

A few days later, I found myself alone on a train to Tokyo to meet the lovely Kathryn. After taking the Yamanote and getting off at the Shibuya stop, I ran to a window in the station, as the famous crosswalk caught my eye. I was amazed because it looks nothing how I've seen it in photos and videos. It's so odd how a place can seem so different in your own eyes versus a screen. I stopped at the rainbow wall as directed by Kathryn, and wait as we messaged each other. She was running late and said I could wait in Starbucks, but I said, "I'm fine", as my camera was already around my neck, as I shot away at everything. That was the start to my next two and a half days in Tokyo.

With raw milk ice cream in our hands, we walked throughout Yoyogi park, spotting walls with paintings adorning them, we captured each other twirling and posing. As we crossed the river, we spotted a nice spot to shoot. As the rays of light became stronger, my heart beat faster as I pressed the shutter button. I felt alive again, I was in my element, and nothing could penetrate it.

Shinjuku reminded me of New York, with it's grey hues and towering buildings. It was dark, illuminated beauty laced with neon.

Two year dream of wanting to eat this ice cream fulfilled.

We met a lovely girl named Stasia and traveled to Odaiba for the day. We explored vintage-styled arcades and natsukashii shops. We ate takoyaki and walked onto the balcony after dark, where our eyes were met with an array of lights in all directions. Even now Odaiba washes up on the shores of my veins, the shore licks at the inside of my lungs, and I wish to go back and shoot, dream.

Heading off to meet Stasia.
