summer rose

It's taken me so long to finish editing these photos for various reasons. Last month I had been going through great stress when I decided to make the big decision to move back home to California. I thought my mind was invisible. I thought I would stay in Japan forever, but life gives us obstacles and opportunities that we always never expect to come. I am still dealing with reverse culture shock, along with trying to decide my future (should I stay here for years to come, or go back to Japan next year). I find solace in art, in reading and writing, and editing photos. I'm still waiting for a new camera, I won't feel good about taking new photos until I do. I'm a little stubborn, but I had my mind made up when my dear friend Tatsu let me use his camera during this shoot.
Tatsu and our amazing model, Anya, ventured to Oowakudani in Hakone to shoot. I thought the location was beautiful and they both agreed. I have stains of memories before the shoot; talking on the train from Shinjuku station, passing scenes of green as we sat talking and laughing until we arrived. This has been the most interesting photo shoot I've had in a long time, thanks to these two souls and their amazing personalities. I'm exited that I'm finally finished with these photos!

kamakura

I am so behind on this entry, as I went on this lovely trip in April, but I finally get to share the photos!

Tokyo, Saitama, Kamakura, I miss all of these places. They are sewn into my heart, and start to bleed when I reminisce. I stayed with a good friend of mine, Tatsu, at his lovely home in Saitama during my trip. It was raining so hard most days, we joked that I brought the Fukuoka rain with me. We visited Kamakura and my heart swelled as the sunshine beamed down. The green, the beauty, I couldn't imagine a place like this existed. I still can't believe that some places in this world exist.

Tatsu was so sweet; he bought us film cameras and by the end of the day, we got them both developed in a shop in Shibuya on the way home. We looked through each set of exposures at home. Little trips like this with amazing people always make me feel so so blessed. I'm so lucky to see the things I do, and have friends like Tatsu.

shadow wing

I woke up this morning to a friend of mine on our roof, waiting for our photo shoot. The best way to wake up! I've been waiting to shoot with Ereka for a little while, so it was a pleasant surprise.
